Founded in 1972, the Spanish University of Cordoba (UCO) has three campuses: the Rabanales campus, the Health Sciences campus and the Legal & Social Sciences Campus. The university is well-regarded for its Agriculture & Forestry teaching, which is ranked as the joint fourth-best in Spain, in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017. The Food and Agriculture, Science and Technology area has been further consolidated with the Agrifood Campus of International Excellence (ceiA3), and the creation of the Rabanales 21 Science and Technology Park, or The Maimonides Institute for Biomedical Research of Cordoba (IMIBIC).

The French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety (ANSES) Laboratory for Food Safety provides support to public decision-makers through general scientific expertise on the quality and safety of foodstuffs, and more specific scientific expertise on certain processing sectors. Its work is focused on biological (bacteria, viruses, parasites) and chemical (toxins, metals, pesticides, organic pollutants, histamine) hazards found, and likely to be found, in foods, particularly during distribution and consumption.
Ibn Zohr University (UIZ) is a Moroccan Higher Education Public Institution which was created in 1989. The Higher Institute of Biotechnology of Sidi Thabet (ISBST) is one of UMA’s establishments with 66 teaching staff and 54 technical staff. ISBST offers third-level academic education and scientific research in Biotechnology applied to the para-pharmaceutical/pharmaceutical industry, safety and quality control of food, experimental and analytical biology, animal, plants and microbial system biology, and molecular biology and health.
