Founded in 1972, the Spanish University of Cordoba (UCO) has three campuses: the Rabanales campus, the Health Sciences campus and the Legal & Social Sciences Campus. The university is well-regarded for its Agriculture & Forestry teaching, which is ranked as the joint fourth-best in Spain, in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017. The Food and Agriculture, Science and Technology area has been further consolidated with the Agrifood Campus of International Excellence (ceiA3), and the creation of the Rabanales 21 Science and Technology Park, or The Maimonides Institute for Biomedical Research of Cordoba (IMIBIC). The research activities of the scientific groups cover all fields related to Agrifood, from economical or legislative aspects to those which are related to the improvement and optimization of resources for the vegetal or animal production. UCO has ranked excellently in the “2012 Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities” released by the National Taiwan University Ranking (NTU Ranking 59 in “Agricultural Sciences”). The participation in the ArtiSaneFood project matches with the most developed activities of UCO and ceiA3 in such a way they can help to promote rural areas and transfer scientific knowledge to strengthen Mediterranean SMEs ensuring the production of artisanal safe foods.
